Biography

Dr. Dovile Vilda is an Assistant Professor and a BIRCWH (Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health) Scholar at the Center, currently examining the impact of fertility treatment on cardiovascular complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Her previous work involved examining the role of social determinants and state-level policies in contributing to the higher rates of maternal and infant mortality in the US, as well as examining the societal and policy factors contributing to maternal and child health more broadly. Dr. Vilda received her Ph.D. in Social Policy / Child & Youth Research from the School of Social Work and Social Policy at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). She also holds a M.Sc. in Migration Studies / Social and Behavioral Sciences from Utrecht University (the Netherlands) and a postgraduate certificate in Statistics from Trinity College Dublin. Her research interests include qualitative and quantitative research methods, reproductive health, and women’s health equity. Through her current and previous work and research activities, Dr. Vilda has extensive experience in designing and conducting mixed-methods research, developing study protocols and research instruments, collecting and analyzing data, writing reports and journal articles, and disseminating research results to various audiences. When not at work, Dovile enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading books, knitting, and listening to music.
