MAC’s HNP Partners with the Center for Employment Opportunities for Citywide Property Beautification Research Project
MAC’s Healthy Neighborhood Project (HNP) is a research project which tests the impact of neighborhood beautification in preventing youth and family violence. 23 New Orleans neighborhoods were chosen for blighted property remediation and cleanup of vacant land and homes. HNP will receive a helping hand from its new partner, the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO), with the neighborhood beautification plans.
CEO works to address blighted properties across New Orleans. The agency has teamed up with MAC’s HNP to support their ongoing research study. CEO work crews will clear litter and debris, mow lawns, perform light renovations, and provide ongoing maintenance to “test lots.” HNP staff will assess the impact this ongoing maintenance may have on neighborhood health and safety.
"We are beyond excited to continue the work of enhancing New Orleans neighborhoods through the Healthy Neighborhoods Project", says Troy Glover, Director of CEO New Orleans. “It is our hope that New Orleanians feel safer and more connected to their communities because of this work, one house or lot at a time."
