Biography

Dr. Theall became Director of MAC in July of 2011. She is a Professor in the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences, and holds the Cecile Usdin Professorship in Women’s Health. Dr. Theall received her MPH in Epidemiology from Emory University School of Public Health and her PhD in Epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Her primary research is centered on understanding and addressing the multilevel community, interpersonal and biological mechanisms that mediate racial and socioeconomic inequities in women and children’s health. She serves on a number of local, national, and international associations concerned with promoting health and social justice.

When not at work, she spends her time with her family, including her three children, engaging in hobbies such as adventure racing, volunteering, and enjoying the culture and culinary delights of the city.
