Biography

Amber Tucker began as a Program Coordinator with the Healthy Neighborhoods Project after joining the project to complete her practicum for her Master's degree in Public Health from Louisiana State University. Amber’s research at LSU focused on how transportation and housing access impact health outcomes, particularly for low income mothers. Amber has completed coursework in Clinical Mental Health at Xavier University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Smith College with a self designed major, Social Movements and Activism. She also works as the Director of Hagar’s House, a home for women and children in the city. Amber’s engagement with housing equity work in New Orleans includes previous work at the New Orleans Women’s Shelter, the Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center and as a board member of the Tulane Canal Neighborhood Association as well as the Tulane Canal Development Corporation.
