MAC affiliated with the new department at Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine

As of July 1, 2021, MAC is with the Department of Social, Behavioral, and Population Sciences (SBPS) at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM).

The Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences is now two separate departments: the SPBS Department and the Department of International Health and Sustainable Development.

Like MAC, the central goal of SBPS is the advancement of population health equity. Faculty and staff in this department have various training backgrounds from epidemiology, social sciences, anthropology, economics, psychology, demography, and urban planning. The research and academic programs housed within the department seek to shed light on the behavioral, social, and structural underpinnings of health inequities and potential solutions to address them. Other centers affiliated with SBPS include the Tulane Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice, the Tulane Prevention Research Center, and the Violence Prevention Institute

While SPBP serves as MAC’s administrative home, we will continue our work in cross-cutting, interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty and partners across SPHTM and other centers, schools, and colleges throughout Tulane University and beyond.
