Meet MAC's New Postdoc: Erica Felker-Kantor, MA, MSPH, Ph.D.

Erica Felker-Kantor, MA, MSPH, Ph.D., is a global health social epidemiologist with experience in research design and methods and social determinants of health. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences at Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She also holds a Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Development from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

Her interest in public health developed from interdisciplinary training in epidemiology, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and medical anthropology. Following completion of her Ph.D., Erica started a postdoc at Tulane under the supervision of Dr. Katherine Theall, Director of the Mary Amelia Center for Women’s Health Equity Research. In this position, Erica will work on two large National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded studies, sharing her expertise in how neighborhood effects research and geospatial and daily diary data analysis. Erica's long-term goal is to work as an applied public health researcher focused on social determinants of health, maternal and child health and health system strengthening in Latin America or Africa, building capacity of local research teams, and using data to inform program decision-making and health policies.
