Faculty Highlight: Aubrey Madkour, Ph.D.
Aubrey Madkour, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Maternal and Child Health Program. Dr. Madkour’s work focuses on developmental science, social work, maternal and child health, and social epidemiology. Her areas of expertise are adolescent and young adult (AYA) development, AYA substance use, AYA partner violence, AYA sexual behavior, and social epidemiology.
Currently, her projects include a quantitative analysis of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics’ (PSID) data to investigate contextual influences on developmental trajectories of binge alcohol use in the transition to young adulthood; a qualitative project examining the reasons for heroin use initiation among New Orleans youth; and an RCT of an online teen pregnancy prevention program targeted to 18-19-year-old African American young women in New Orleans.
