Lauren Futrell Dunaway, MPH, Ph.D
Lauren, MAC’s Research and Evaluation Program Manager, received her Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2008. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in the Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences Department. Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Georgia in 2005 and completed a Dietetic Internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2006. Her research interests include social determinants of early life course nutrition, childhood obesity, nutrition during pregnancy, and neighborhood and structural level determinants of women and children’s health. Prior to joining MAC, Lauren worked on and managed multiple projects related to the food environment in New Orleans and its effect on obesity. During her time at MAC she has worked on training programs for public health professionals related to breastfeeding and most recently managed all research and evaluation efforts. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys cooking, trying new foods and restaurants, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints. She stays active by enjoying the beautiful parks of New Orleans, chasing her dog, and playing with her two young daughters.
