Jane Wilson Smith Lectureship Series

The Jane Wilson Smith Lectureship Fund was awarded to the Tulane School of Public Health in 1997. The Fund was established as an endowed fund, the income of which has been used to enhance the education of local health care professionals, ranging from medical students to practicing physicians, by supporting visiting lectureships from nationally recognized scholars on both research and clinical topics relating to Women’s health. The lectureship (and lecture series) seeks to enhance the education of health care professionals, public health providers, and community women on women’s health issues, with the Annual Lecture particularly geared towards stress, substance abuse and depression. The Fund was established by Joe D. Smith as a gift in memory of his late wife. To date, the Jane Wilson Smith Lectureship has reached more than 500 women and men with its message about women’s health issues.
