The Mary Amelia Douglas-Whited Community Women’s Health Education Center (MAC) has partnered with other child-focused organizations* across Louisiana to collaborate on the Louisiana Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Initiative Workgroup. These organizations have a common interest in educating and promoting the importance of childhood experiences and advocating for safe and nurturing environments for our children.

The ACE Initiative workgroup met for the first time in July of 2014 with the objective to explore strategies that inform child and family-serving workforces across the state about the effects of ACEs in the community. Furthermore, the group’s aim is to invite additional organizations to join the effort and formalize infrastructure in 2015.

The next steps for 2015 is to create speaking opportunities with groups about ACEs and gain additional support throughout Louisiana as well as to study ACE related projects in Arkansas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In addition the group plans to roll out its communication strategy and implementation plan this year. For more information on the the ACE study click here
