Supreme Court ruling on health care law hailed as victory for many in Louisiana

For the nearly 138,000 Louisianians who receive federal subsidies through the Affordable Care Act, Thursday’s (June 25) decision by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the legality of those payments brought a huge sense of relief.

“I think it’s very, very, very good news in general, and it’s especially good news for people in Louisiana,” said Moriba Karamoko, director of the Louisiana Consumer Healthcare Coalition, who himself is enrolled in a marketplace insurance plan that qualifies him for a subsidy. read more
